R&S Records was founded in 1983 in Ghent, Belgium. The name comes from the initials of Renaat Vandepapeliere and Sabine Maes.

It closed in 2000, then relaunched in 2008. It has been run from London since.

Its roster has included Aphex Twin, Paula Temple, Model 500 and James Blake.
