What is A Persuasive Argument by Dustin Zahn and Truncate?
Some collaborations take years to happen. This one waited for a birthday.
For the label’s 15th anniversary, Truncate teamed up with long-time friend and colleague Dustin Zahn, as the label’s Bandcamp page tells it. The two had remixed each other and performed together many times, but had never recorded together until now.
The result is four club tracks: Slow Erosion, Distant Haze, Somewhat Ethical and Brain Rot. The label says each one has an entirely different feel, with a common language tying the set together. The release came out on 30 October 2026 with catalogue number TRUNCATE30, and on Beatport all four sit under raw, deep and hypnotic techno.

Artwork is by Selaloex, and the mastering is by Dietrich at Complete Mastering.
Who are Truncate and Dustin Zahn?
Truncate is a Los Angeles producer, and also the name of the label, which started in early 2011 as an outlet for his own deep, raw techno. It has since become a platform for new and upcoming techno artists. Our guides cover the Truncate label and Truncate the artist.
For a sense of his own sound, Resident Advisor’s 2021 review of his Token single DTW 2 LAX V2 described techno stripped to the essentials and carefully detailed, with a roots feel taken from Robert Hood’s mid-1990s work. Token has its own label guide on Trip.
Dustin Zahn runs the techno label Enemy Records, and we have a Dustin Zahn guide too.
Where can you hear and buy A Persuasive Argument?
You can stream the full release on the label’s Bandcamp page, where it’s sold as a digital album. The label tags it deep techno, hypnotic, melodic, minimal techno and peaktime.
The tempos run from 105 BPM on Slow Erosion up to 142 on Somewhat Ethical, which fits that line about four different feels. Lengths are from Bandcamp, and tempo and key are from Beatport:
- Slow Erosion: 5:34, 105 BPM, D flat minor
- Distant Haze: 5:48, 134 BPM, D flat major
- Somewhat Ethical: 5:32, 142 BPM, G flat minor
- Brain Rot: 5:12, 138 BPM, E minor
After all those remixes and shared sets, the first record by Dustin Zahn and Truncate has arrived, and it fits the occasion: four club tracks for a label’s 15th year.
