Giddy

After well over a decades absence from DJing, Giddy got back behind the decks when he launched his Infectious Company mix series in September 2020, which quickly established an interest and a following within his own circles initially. Then a wider audience started to take notice and his sets were being described as energetic, engaging and relentless progressive journeys. Off the back of this, various guest mix requests begun coming in and by February 2021 he had landed his own residency for his “Infectious Company” show on Saturo Sounds. This was followed by another residency being secured in June for the popular Sunday night show “Antonym” on Trip Radio. This show allowed Giddy and his fellow resident DJs to showcase a more eclectic style of music in tune with the Sunday evening vibes, with their sets ranging from deep Electronica and Downtempo, through to Organic House and Drum & Bass. Along with residencies, Giddy has also appeared as a guest DJ on pioneering underground radio stations such as Frisky Radio, MixPub and Subcode, to name but a few. September 2021 saw Giddy’s first venture into the Production world, with his remix of “Menagerie” by FuseFreqs being included on their Saturo Sounds release. He has also remixed Blue Amazon’s “Shellvox” which was released on EP001 for ‘Affiliate’ and has been well received, including features on Apple Music and Traxsource.  With another remix already signed and due for release later in the year, along with some exciting and soon-to-be announced news around impending some Original track releases, 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting and productive year for Giddy.

Nick Gartland

My first foray on the turntables was as a 12 year old at Crosby Youth Club playing the likes of ‘Yazz’ – ‘The Only Way Is Up’ and ‘Jellybean’ – ‘Jingo’ on a ‘Dave – Double Deck’ to a load of kids my age. I absolutely loved music, making tapes as a young kid for friends. My first decks were bought off a friend who was a hip-hop DJ back in 1991 when I was 16; they were two different belt drive decks without any pitch adjustment. I was playing anything from hip hop to Belgian techno at interesting speeds! For my 18th I got my first proper decks - 2 Sound Lab DLP1’s and took it from there. I spent my time between going to Cream from when it first started in 1992 and Voodoo. I was into the progressive/harder side of dance rather than main room house and cut my cloth in the Annexe. This heavily influenced the music I was playing at the time. My influences include John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman, Steve Parry on how to construct sets and take listeners on a journey. I play house and techno from the more melodic side.  I also play soul, funk, disco and re-edits heavily influenced by my other love - 80s music and also Balearic/Chilled vibes! It sounds like a musical cliché but I like to play anything that’s good and take listeners on a journey. I am also partial to the Greg Wilson vibe of music and sets. My first proper gigs were in the early 90s at Fallows and Paradox in Liverpool. I ran the Student Association at Hugh Baird College and promoted student nights at both clubs. During my university days in Hull, I djed at The Student Union on many nights as well as numerous parties! Between 2012 and 2016, I promoted a night in Liverpool called Luna. We were able to bring DJs like Dave Seaman, Ralph Lawson, Stephan Bodzin, Detlef, Noir and others to Liverpool. We also showcased an abundance of local talent whom I was able to DJ with. I started my residency at The Workshop in March 2017; it has re-ignited my passion to DJ and opened myself up to new genres to play out! I made my festival debut at Also Festival in Warwickshire in June 2018 alongside Steve Parry in the Disco Bunker. I was one of the founder promoters and resident DJs of club night and radio show, Black Light Disco. I promote and DJ at Return of The 80's parties @ The Workshop, an era of music very close to my heart! I promote and DJ at Selador Parties in Liverpool with Steve Parry. I joined the TripRadio team as resident for the Antonym show in June 2021.
